Francis Butler married, 14 July 1816, Hannah, daughter of Benjamin Chesley, born 1 Jan. 1799. He died 30 April 1831, aged 38. His widow married, (2) July 1832, Daniel Young, who died 6 Feb. 1838, married (3) Hudson Peavey of Strafford and died 26 Feb. 1881, aged 81. Children by first marriage:

  1. Mary Jane Butler born 4 Jan. 1820; d. 22 April 1862. Unm.
  2. James Butler born 20 Aug. 1823; married Emily, daughter of Moses Woodman. Ch.,
    1. Edgar Butler.
    2. Frank Butler.
    3. Benjamin Butler.
  3. George W. Butler born 2 March 1826; married Christina _______. Had son:
    1. Charles E. Butler
  4. Sarah Ann Butler born 4 July 1831; married Charles S. Davis; d. 4 Dec. 1871. He was drowned 2 Oct. 1867, aged 33-7-7. Had son:
    1. Walter C. Davis, who married Marcia Paul.

Children by second marriage:

  1. Almira Young born 6 March 1834; died 12 Dec. 1860. Unm.
  2. Albert Young born 3 Feb. 1837; married 12 June 1864, Mary Ann Gleason, born 10 Nov. 1832. She d. 5 Feb. 1909. He d. 21 Sept. 1910. Had daughter:
    1. Mary E. Young born 4 Aug. 1869, who married Charles A. Smart.
